The Haras “Paso del Manzanero” which is located in Zapican, in the north of the Department of Lavalleja Uruguay, began working as a Stud Farm in 1974 when Pio Olascoaga started his career competing every Sunday in the traditional “Raid Uruguayo.” With the first mares that Pio Olascoaga used for the “Raid” competitions in 1979, the stud farm eventually took on a physical form situated on a property belonging to his wife Helena Amaya, along the “Manzanero” stream.

The winner of the President's Cup 2012 was SH Hazza Bin Sultan Al Nahyan with the horse Gelnmorgan.

VENDAVAL(URU), the World Junior Endurance champion 2011, now owned by the Al Wathba Stables was the highest Uruguayan ranked horse in the President Cup at the position nr 11 to approx. 20 minutes behind the winner.
